A significant enhancement of laser-induced plasma emission occurred when a pulsed microwave coupled by using loop antenna was introduced into the plasma region. The enhanced plasma has unique characteristics, namely long-lifetime duration (approximately 1 ms) and high temperature. This is very potential to be used as a high intense optical emission source in higher resolution spectroscopy.
