We have developed the hydrogen treatment system with metal oxide as a countermeasure of large quantities of hydrogen generated in the primary containment vessel of BWRs in severe accidents. The powderization of hydrogen reactants was observed in the previous study. Therefore, the mechanism study on the powderization, and improvement of shape retainability was conducted. Reaction heat from the oxidation of hydrogen increases the reactor temperature. Thus, the low heat reaction hydrogen reactants were developed for the purpose of reducing heat generation from oxidation reaction.
