Changes in work styles, such as telecommuting and reduced work opportunities, have occurred because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Those changes might alter the overall daily life behavior of workers. For this study, details of diary data were used to elucidate changes in the ways workers in Japan spent their time before, during, and after the declaration of a state of emergency (April 2020). We then categorized workers into seven groups based on their characteristics. In the group which began telecommuting during declaration of the state of emergency, wake-up times became later, night-time leisure activities increased. The same trend was found for the group which continued to work from home after the declaration was lifted.
