Tue. May 28, 2019 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM Poster Hall (International Exhibition Hall8, Makuhari Messe)

Volcanic monitoring systems are developed and managed for the purpose to observe a specific volcanic activity in each country based on its own regulation. However, the experience of Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull eruption in 2010 caused huge air traffic disturbances, and left large economic and social impact to international community. In order to reduce possible financial, environmental, health or social damages caused by trans-boundary volcanic disaster, it is important to develop international cooperative system to monitor and share the information of emission, dispersion or deposition of volcanic products. In this session, we discuss trans-boundary effect of volcanic eruption, and how to establish international collaborative mechanism from different research disciplines such as disaster management, volcanology, environmental politics or international law.
