[AHW25-04] Effect of variability in soil property on slope stability during rainfall

*Jing-Sen Cai1 (1.China University of Geosciences)

A cross-correlation analysis[1] is developed to investigate the temporal and spatial patterns between slope stability and soil properties during rainfall, considering spatial variabilities in hydraulic and mechanical properties, and temporal variability of rainfall[2]. Results indicate that the variability in hydraulic properties, rainfalls and pore-water distribution are critical to slope stability. In addition, the variability of n in the MVG model, generally ignored in present study of slope stability, appears to have great impacts on slope stability. Furthermore, the cross-correlation analysis helps indicating spatiotemporally the critical factors such as the location where the low-reliability zone forms and the time when this zone starts to impact the slope under different situations, and this could direct the further investigation or monitoring measures implement.
