[G04-02] A Pilot Study of an Active Learning Program Through the Production ofMotion Graphic Animation with Pictograms forDisaster PreventionEducation

Japan is a country prone to frequent natural disasters; therefore,disaster emergency evacuation drills have been conducted at all schools for several decades. However, conventional disaster prevention education based on passive learning seems to be insufficient for people to react to natural disasters in a proper manner. We thus propose an active learning program that helps people to take relevant action in the event of actual disasters occurring.In this undertaking, pictograms are given in a computer to students.After that, students search for the relevant actions to take,according to the situation, and discuss their suggestions and proposals in respective groups. Motion graphic animation using pictograms is then produced, which will likely prove helpful in promoting proper emergency action to be taken in a certain situation.
