[U10-04] Contribution of micro-satellite for global issues: Ocean debris and pollutions
キーワード:超小型衛星、地球規模課題、リモートセンシング
Many of the global issues in the world require high-frequency monitoring. In that sense, satellite remote-sensing is a necessary measure, which can scan a wide area in a short time. Until now, the main means was to take pictures using large satellites operated by national organizations such as space agencies and manned aircraft, but in recent years, micro-satellite weighing 50 kg or less is becoming popular. With such devices, the method of environmental monitoring has reached a major turning point. With the establishment of techniques for target pointing with micro-satellite and advanced spectral cameras, it has become practical to observe specific areas with high frequency and high accuracy. Here we introduce some examples of our challenges for ocean plastic measurement and water quality assessment with those devices. Such types of monitoring may establish a new global framework, such as ocean debris or pollution credit. The discussion for the establishment of remote-sensing methods for plastics is started globally and the government committee is organized for this purpose.
