Of the 17 SDGs, the world is lagging behind the world's efforts the most in No. 14, "Life under the Waters. Therefore, the United Nations has designated the period from 2021 to 2030 as the "United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences. Among the challenges of No. 14, "improving ocean literacy is one of the most essencial challenges. Giving back various oceanographic knowledge to the general public is an essencial activity to be crucial awareness of the ocean literacy of the general public. There are diverse approaches to improving ocean literacy, such as ocean knowledge acquisition, human resource development, education, and promotion of science that involves the public, that can be used to disseminate ocean science to the general public in a variety of ways. In this session, therefore, speakers from academia as well as NGOs and other diverse organizations will introduce a variety of activities being undertaken by their organizations to make the public aware of the appeal of ocean science from a variety of perspectives. After the presentations, in addition to taking questions from the audience, a panel discussion will be held to allow time for interaction between the speakers and the audience (especially elementary, middle, and high school teachers) to discuss better methods and methodologies for communicating science and to learn from each other's good points.
