[S-GD01] Geodesy and Global Geodetic Observing System

Thu. May 30, 2024 1:45 PM - 3:00 PM 303 (International Conference Hall, Makuhari Messe)

convener:Koji Matsuo(Geospatial Information Authority of Japan), Yusuke Yokota(Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo), Yuta Mitsui(Department of Geosciences, Shizuoka University), Chairperson:Takeshi Sagiya(Disaster Mitigation Research Center, Nagoya University), Koji Matsuo(Geospatial Information Authority of Japan)

Geodesy is a discipline that aims to define a Terrestrial Reference Frame for accurate positioning and monitor/understand the Earth system through precise measurements of the Earth's shape, gravity, and rotation, as well as their temporal evolutions. In this session, we call for wide range of papers concerned with geodesy and its application to geoscience. Topics of interest will include but not limited to recent advances in measurement techniques, data analysis, numerical modeling or theoretical studies of geodesy. This session also welcomes topics of interdisciplinary studies on geoscience using ground-based geodetic techniques (spirit leveling, absolute/relative gravimeter, strain meter and so on) or space geodetic techniques (GNSS, VLBI, SLR, DORIS, GRACE, satellite altimetry and so on). In addition, we also provide a forum for discussing GGOS (Global Geodetic Observing System) related observation programs, advancements of geodetic techniques, collaboration among various organizations in the world.
