Natural disasters frequently occur on Taiwan due to its geographical and geological settings. The national government offers comprehensive online hazard maps that cover the entire Taiwan. The local governments also collaborate with national universities to produce hazard information at the prefectural and the municipal scales. Education on hazard maps is integrated into senior high school curriculums, particularly in the geographical subject of Spatial Information Science. Students learn about natural disasters and hazards through various mapping data obtained by Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
