[O04-03] How to deal with climate change impacts on marine ecosystems?

*Masahiko Fujii1 (1.Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, The University of Tokyo)

Keywords:climate change, mitigation measures, adaptation measures, incentive, curiosity, literacy

In recent years, the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems have become increasingly apparent. However, it is difficult for us who live on land to directly experience what is happening in the ocean. Therefore, in order to confront this problem, it is necessary to grant motivation for stakeholders concerned to take this issue seriously as their own. The presenter has been seamlessly engaged in educational and research activities related to the assessment, projection, and countermeasures for the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems. He has also been engaged in efforts to cultivate the necessary predispositions for advancing the assessment and projection of these impacts. Furthermore, he has been involved in energy shift and other efforts to achieve a significant and rapid reduction of anthropogenic CO2 emissions, which is one of the major countermeasures. In this presentation, these activities will be introduced, which may provide an opportunity to consider what we should do in the future to both convey the appeal of oceanography and to save the marine environment.
