Point Cloud PNG is a file format developed by AIST to comfortably handle 2D and 3D point data on the Internet. It uses lossless compression of the PNG image file format to reduce file size and enable high-speed transfer. In Point Cloud PNG, numerical information is converted into color and stored, and it is also possible to handle various attribute information in addition to position information. The specifications are published free of charge on the website. By using Point Cloud PNG tiles, it can be displayed quickly on a web browser.
