[4I3-GS-2-01] Application of Surround Inhibition Mechanism To Image Recognition
Keywords:Surround Inhibition Mechanism, Pattern Recognition, Image Recognition, Edge Device
Hartline discovered that the horseshoe crab visual cells have a mechanism of surround inhibition. The mechanism makes the strong stimulus stronger and the weak stimulus weaker by adjusting the strength of the stimulus between neighboring visual cells. Via this mechanism, horseshoe crabs have succeeded in capturing the outside world more clearly. In this paper, referring to the surround inhibition mechanism, various new types of edge detection method are dened other than the Laplacian filter.
