Hierarchical constraint logic programming (HCLP), which incorporated preferences of constraints into constraint logic programming, was proposed to facilitate the description of problems in rule-based artificial intelligence. This paper proposes a method for solving a framework called constraint hierarchies to handle preferences of constraints and also a method called inter-hierarchy comparison that is needed to handle preferences of constraints in HCLP. The paper describes the implementation of the methods, and presents an example of its execution.
