In pentacene deposition, lamellar grain is formed with dendritic and/or island grain. In this paper, to evaluate the formation and growth of lamellar grain, the initial growth of pentacene film was investigated. Pentacene thin film was formed on SiO2 and N-doped LaB6 thin film by thermal deposition and its surface morphology was observed by AFM. The substrate dependence of the initial growth of pentacene film and the formation of lamellar grain were evaluated and discussed by using AFM images.
