Since contamination of pre-bond surface cause degradation of adhesive bonding, effective test for cleanness of pre-bond surface is requested. Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a promising candidate, because it can rapidly detect trace elements in air. We have investigated the application of LIBS for inspecting trace substances on Al alloy surfaces with adhered silicone oil. Similar surface contamination was applied to evaluation of change in adhesive strength. Moreover, detection of Si on fractured samples’ surface by LIBS were also demonstrated. These results indicate that LIBS can be used for cause unfolding of degraded adhesive bonding as well as test for pre-bond surface.
