[16p-P14-9] Pump Modulation Mode-locked Er-doped Fiber Laser beyond Emission Lifetime Limit

Mode-locked EDF laser using active mode-locking via pump modulation (AMPM) is demonstrated. This method does not use an intensity modulation in the cavity, which excludes the cause of loss derived from a modulator. The repetition rate, the spectrum bandwidth, and pulse duration are 99.250kHz, 2.26nm, 1.18ps respectively. The repetition rate we have achieved is much beyond the emission lifetime limit of Er ion.
In this lecture, we will explain the results of our experiment with its reasons.
