▲ [18p-221B-15] Electrically Tuned Bandgap Structures for Optical Switching Applications

In this paper, a triangular lattice-based photonic crystal structure with air holes is presented, with varying refractive index. An electric field ranging from 5 kV/cm to 100 kV/cm is used to vary the refractive index of the substrate. Photonic bands of the proposed system are simulated using MPB software. The bandgap of the system is calculated and it is found that the bandgap is altering with the applied electric field. These devices may be used for switching and routing purposes in high-speed networks.
