We have conducted a series of terahertz (THz) electro-optic (EO) sampling measurements in the relatively weak THz signal regime and proved that by using “polarization filtering” the signal-to-noise ratio is improved as well as the EO signal magnitude in the EO sampling detection of THz pulsed waves. In the conference presentation, we discuss the noise characteristics in the THz EO sampling and the optimized condition for application of the “polarization filtering”.
