△ [19p-234B-13] Fabrication of high quality spinel ferrites thin films and their magnetic properties

We have proposed a novel concept of Flux-Mediated Epitaxy (FME), and succeeded in obtaining single-crystal-like ferroelectric Bi4Ti3O12 films via the FME process using a Bi-Cu-O flux1). The key point for the successful FME process is how to select the appropriate flux material, although the exploration of its best composition is often laborious and time-consuming. Here, we apply the FME process using the Bi-Cu-O flux to other oxide materials, e.g. spinel ferrites, MFe2O4 (“M” is transition metal cation), which have attracted attention due to their wide range of physical properties. In this attempt, by the deposition of NiFe2O4 thin films via the FME process, we discuss the flux effects on the structures and magnetic properties of the obtained films. The FME grown films exhibited higher crystallinity and flatness than those grown without flux. Thus, the Bi-Cu-O flux has been found to work as a promising flux for high-quality NiFe2O4 thin films.
