It has been known that activity of metal nanoparticles supported on TiO2 promote or deteriorate of after heating or introduction of a reaction gas, and such a phenomenon is called a strong metal-support ineteraction. In case Pt nanoparticles supported on TiO2, coating of Pt nanoparticles with TiOx has been reported by heat treatment in ultrahigh vacuum. Therefore, we paid attention to the structure near the interface of Pt/TiO2 having a particle size close to practical catalyst, and investigated the site of TiOx formation etc by TEM observation.
