[10p-N207-15] Control of Vesicle Fusion by Biotin-Streptavidin interaction

Vesicles were tethered with the supported lipid bilayer (SLB) by Biotin-Streptavidin interaction, and the fusion state was investigated by Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching (FRAP).When the addition of Ca²⁺ ions in the buffer solution suppressed the electrostatic repulsion between vesicles and the SLB, the mobile fraction increased and it indicates that fusion proceeds.In the case of the vesicles composed of DOPC / DOPE, the structural stability is low, so fusion is facilitated even in the absence of Ca²⁺ ions.
