[21a-P01-7] Study of Luminescent Nanomaterials Based on Fluorides Activated by Cerium Ions

A number of syntheses were carried out for samples LaF3:Ce3+ and YF3:Ce3+ (with various concentrations of cerium) were synthesized using a simple one-step hydrothermal procedure. The resulting nanocrystals have a well-crystallized orthorhombic phase and have an elongated spherical shape with a diameter of about 100 nm. Polyethylene glycol (PEG-20000) was used as a surfactant, which covers the surface of nanocrystals during synthesis and, therefore, makes nanocrystals biocompatible. The study of the luminescent properties was carried out with excitation by a xenon lamp and X-ray. Ce3+ doped nanocrystals exhibit emission in the region of 300 nm with a maximum sample intensity of 5%mol of cerium and, thus, have good potential for use as a constituent drug for photodynamic therapy [1].
