[20p-A304-15] Electromechanical properties of K(Ta,Nb)O3 crystal
Keywords:K(Ta,Nb)O3, electromechanical properties, poling
Potassium Tantalate Niobate, K(Ta,Nb)O3 (KTN) single crystals have been considered for applications as electro-optic crystals, but they also have excellent electromechanical properties and electro-caloric effects. The measured temperature changes ΔTs in KTN crystala upon the release of the electric field from 20 kV/cm to zero were 0.42K.In many cases, their Curie temperatures are just above room temperature, making it difficult to maintain polarization. In this study, we will examine the effects of the history of the applied electric field on the electrical and electromechanical properties. Initially, an electric field of 2 kV/cm produces little strain, but after a DC electric field of 3 kV/cm is applied, strain exceeding 0.09% is produced. We report the change in properties with history of DC and AC electric fields.
