[21p-P18-23] Blue Phase Development from Cholesteric Phase Containing Grandjean Defects
Keywords:liquid crystal, disclination, cano-cell
The phase transition behavior of blue-phase liquid crystals sealed in wedge-shaped cells was investigated by polarized light microscopy with detailed temperature control. In wedge-shaped cells, the cholesteric phase could not maintain a uniform helical structure over the entire cell surface, and a linear Grandjean structure with alignment defects and their connections was observed. By controlling temperature at a very low speed of 0.01°C/min, BP I is observed in the vicinity of these linear defects.
