[15p-PB05-4] AlOx cladding CirD laser with orthogonal lattice photonic crystal waveguide (OLW) cladded by upper and lower air layers
Keywords:CirD laser
In recent years, as communication capacity has increased, the problem of the limits of telecommunications transmission capacity has arisen. This has necessitated the need for new information and communication devices, and the development of short-range optical communication devices is required. We have been developing semiconductor lasers with circular-defect (CirD) resonators in two-dimensional photonic crystals (2D PhC) [1]. Simulations have shown that an orthogonal lattice waveguide (OLW) has a wider bandwidth than the linearly defective waveguide conventionally used and can be efficiently coupled to the resonator [2]. In addition, the bandwidth can be expected to be broadened by using air cladding layers on the top and bottom of the OLW. In this study, we fabricated a CirD laser with an OLW with air cladding on the top and bottom and investigated its optical properties experimentally.
