[V-15-20] Development of transgenerational immunobiotic library with innate immune activation

[Purpose] Immunobiotics have attracted attention as antimicrobial substitutes. Based on that possibility, we aimed to construct a transgenerational immunobiotic library of lactobacilli with ability to activate innate immunity of pigs.

[Methods] 1. Lactobacilli isolated from piglet feces were identified by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The composition of microbiomes of piglet feces was analyzed.
2. The stimulatory effect of the isolated lactobacilli on the gene expression of endogenous antimicrobial factors was evaluated in PIE cells.

[Results] 1. A total 269 strains of lactobacilli were isolated from piglet feces. L. plantarum was frequently isolated from different generations. L. reuteri was one of the dominant among lactobacilli in the microbiota of sow and piglet samples.
2. The strain specific effect on the gene expression was observed.
The constructed library will accelerate the selection of potent transgenerational immunobiotics to augment innate immunity in livestock.
