In this study, the rotating soil spring under the spread foundation of the RC pier with the backfill soil was replaced with the vertical soil spring, and the stepping effect of the spread foundation was evaluated. And then, by performing nonlinear response analysis in the past study that introduced the behavior pattern of the bottom of the foundation, the interaction between the rotational motion and the translational motion of the foundation was investigated.
