[2B07-12-05] Gas-liquid two-phase flow simulation with finite volume method based on building-cube method
Keywords:Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flow, Building Cube Method, Inundation Analysis, Large-Scale Parallel Computation
Recent climate change has increased the risk of flooding in urban areas. However, conventional one- or two-dimensional models based on the general shallow water equation cannot compute the complex three-dimensional flow of water and the unsteady hydrodynamic forces acting on structures in urban areas with dense structures. In this study, we propose a gas-liquid two-phase flow simulation method using the finite volume method with the building cube method (BCM), which is suitable for large-scale parallel computation. The cell-centered finite volume method based on the BCM has been conventionally applied to single-phase flows and fluid-structure interaction problems, but it has not been applied to gas-liquid two-phase flows. In this study, the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified by performing a three-dimensional dam break problem and inundation analysis in a building.
