Medical care, rehabilitation and education of developmental coordination disorder
Fri. Jun 16, 2017 2:10 PM - 4:10 PM Room No.5 (10F Conference Room 1008)
Chair:Akio Nakai(Hyogo Children's Sleep and Development Medical Research Center), Mitsuru Kashiwagi(Department of Pediatrics, Hirakata City Hospital, Osaka, Japan)
[Aim]
DSM-5 classifies developmental coordination disorder (DCD) as a discrete motor disorder under the broader heading of neurodevelopmental disorders. Children did not consult a hospital only for the problem of clumsiness that was main complaint of DCD, and DCD has hardly attracted attention in the medical care in Japan. DCD is often comorbid with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and so-called learning disability. In this symposium, experts introduce us to medical care, rehabilitation, and education of DCD. It will be an opportunity to deepen our understanding about DCD.
