Parking support parts used in the parking lock system that stops wheel rotation when a vehicle is parked have a wide variety of shapes depending on the layout of the vehicle and transmission. In applying the PM technology to parking support parts, we advanced techniques such as undercut compacting, irregular-shaped two-piece compacting, and powder removal compacting due to the importance of proposing product shapes suitable for net-shape manufacturing with the aim of reducing costs. Furthermore, partial laser hardening was applied where wear resistance is required, reducing costs and ensuring accuracy. This method contributed to a 94.5% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to conventional carburizing and quenching, and enabled the development of environmentally friendly parking support parts.
