[15F-T13-07] Wear, Mechanical Properties and Corrosion Resistance of Mechanically Alloyed Ti-13Ta-6Sn
キーワード:titanium alloy, wear, biomaterials, elastic modulus, mechanical alloying
The demand for advanced materials with enhanced mechanical properties has driven extensive research into titanium alloys, particularly for applications in biomedical and aerospace engineering. Commercially Pure Titanium (CP-Ti) has been a reference in these fields; however, its inherent limitations, such as moderate wear resistance, necessitate the exploration of novel alloys. This study focuses on the production of a beta Ti-13Ta-6Sn alloy through high-energy milling, aiming to surpass the wear performance of CP-Ti at the same time maintaining biocompatibility. The alloy's microstructure, phase composition, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties were characterized. Compared to CP-Ti, the alloy exhibited lower elastic modulus and higher yield strength. The tribological and microhardness evaluation revealed significantly lower wear rates and higher strength, highlighting the potential of this alloy in mitigating wear-related challenges.
