[16P-T15-02] Effect of Al Addition on Properties of FeB-Ni Cemented Carbides
キーワード:FeB-Ni-Al hard materials , spark plasma sintering, fracture toughness
FeB-Ni is expected to become an alternative material for the traditional hard materials due to its high hardness, wear resistance and low cost. In order to meet its function as a cutting material, its hardness and fracture toughness need to be further improved. This study explored the effect of adding different contents of Al on the properties of FeB-10Ni. In this study, FeB-Ni-Al hard materials were prepared by mechanical ball milling and spark plasma sintering. The density of the hard materials were tested by Archimedes’method. Phase structure, microstructure, hardness and fracture toughness were also evalated for this performance. The composition of the alloy powders(volume percent) was FeB-10Ni-x%Al, of which the addition amount of Al was 1~10. In summary, the hardness and fracture toughness of FeB-10Ni hard materials are 1187 HV and 9.77 MPa•m1/2 . The results showed that compared with traditional cemented carbide WC-Co in the literature, the hardness and fracture toughness of FeB-10Ni-Al improved by approximately 12% and 57%.
