[15P-T16-02] Temperature Dependence of Magnetostrctive Properties of Cuo.6Co0.4Fe2O4 and CoFe2O4 below Room Temperature
Keywords:magnetostriction, ferrites, temperature dependence
The partial substitution of Cu for Co in the CoFe2O4 has been reported to improve magnetostrictive properties at room temperature. However, magnetostrictive materials are required to show superior magnetostrictive properties over the wide temperature range. In this study, the temperature dependence of magnetostrictive properties of Cu0.6Co0.4Fe2O4 and CoFe2O4 was investigated below room temperature. The strain magnitude at 7 T of the Cu0.6Co0.4Fe2O4 was sensitively increased with decreasing temperature when compared with that of the CoFe2O4. In addition, the temperature dependence of the strain magnitude at 7 T of the Cu0.6Co0.4Fe2O4 showed a maximum at 100 K. As a result, the Cu0.6Co0.4Fe2O4 showed a strain of approximately 911 ppm at 100 K by changing the direction of 7 T magnetic field. Therefore, the partial substitution of Cu for Co is effective to enhance magnetostrictive properties of CoFe2O4 in the wide temperature range.
