ジルカロイ被覆管は原子炉運転中に冷却水との反応により表面に酸化膜を形成するが、冷却材喪失事故(LOCA)が起きると高温水蒸気雰囲気で被覆管の酸化が進み、中層では酸素を固溶したα相が形成される。このα-Zr酸素固溶体が溶融したZr-O溶融合金の粘性、表面張力及び密度を、静電浮遊法を用いて測定した。
