Silicon carbide composites are one of promising materials due to pronounced low radioactivity and excellent radiation resistivity. It was proven so far that the edge effect of the specimen, which depended on the specimen size, possibly decreased the composite strength considerably for the case of off-axial tensile tests. This study then aims to evaluate fracture behavior of SiC/SiC composite tube materials without any edges to compare composite plate data. For that purpose, several fabric architecture composites were evaluated by the expanding plug burst test and anisotropy of the hoop strength of the composite tubes will be discussed.
