[1E17] Fukushima Daiichi NPP Unit-2 Suppression Chamber Bottom Earthquake Break and Its Consequence

*Fumiya Tanabe1 (1. Sociotechnical Systems Safety Research Institute)

Keywords:Fukushima Daiichi NPP accident, unit-2, S/C bottom break, S/C water level, RCIC loss of function

The earthquake on March 11th should have broken some pipe connected to the lowest part of 1F2 suppression chamber(S/C). The S/C water level decreasing by the leak should have resulted in loss of function of the RCIC on 14th due to the pump suction line uncovering and subsequently in turbine trip due to the discharge line uncovering to lead to the pressure decreasing.
