[1M08] Development of nuclear transmutation methods for converting LLFP into stable or short-lived nuclides
(8)Neutron capture cross-section measurements of stable Se nuclides as part of the ImPACT Project
Keywords:ImPACT, neutron capture cross-section, ANNRI, selenium, TOF method
As part of the ImPACT project, we have measured the cross-section of the stable selenium isotopes 74,76,77,78,80,82Se, via time-of-flight method. We are currently examining the concept of measuring the LLFP 79Se (half-life 330,000 y) a long-lived fission product contained in high-level waste, using ANNRI at J-PARC/MLF. It is assumed that a 79Se sample would include stable Se isotopes as impurities, impossible to be removed by chemical separation. Thus it is vital to measure the capture-cross sections of stable Se isotopes in order to accurately measure the cross-setion of 79Se. This presentation will focus mainly on the results of 78Se.
