コンパクト中性子源としての応用を目指し,陰極の冷却に有利な電極配置をもつ直線型の慣性静電閉じ込め核融合(IECF)装置を開発した。
直線型IECF装置において効率的に中性子を生成する条件を明らかにするために放電時の水素原子の空間分布及びエネルギー分布を分光計測により詳細に調べた。
