A pool boiling experiment was conducted with sea water in a 5×5 rod bundle of BWR simulated partial fuel. The flow area inside the top spacer was filled with the precipitated salt. Dryout occurred below the spacer, which results in the temperature escalation of the heater surface. On the other hand, the heater above the spacer was cooled continuously by pool boiling.
