[2H04] In-situ experiment project on the chemical interaction among barrier materials

M-S-H precipitation by the reaction between sedimentary rock and alkali leachate in paleoseawater environment

The boreholes excavated in Mont. Terri Rock Laboratory were backfilled with various barrier materials. The samples involving the interaction were excavated spot by spot after the determined terms. The phase that is thought to be magnesium silicate hydrates was found near the interface. The spot of the precipitation varied with the types of cement.
