In this work we studied the migration behavior and stability of polymer-stabilized gold nanoparticles in column experiments through silica porous medium.
When studying similar polymer-coated nanoparticles with different gold-core sizes, the larger core-sized nanoparticles showed an increased retention in column and batch experiments in the presence of silica.
These results suggest that the polymeric layer stabilizing effect of the larger nanoparticles is hindered and as a consequence there is evidence of aggregation.
