[2H17] Influence of carbonate to the diffusion of lanthanide elements in compacted bentonite

Diffusion experiments of La, Nd, Eu, Dy, Er and Lu in compacted bentonite were conducted by changing bicarbonate concentration. Apparent diffusion coefficients of La and Nd decreased with increasing bicarbonate concentration. In contrast, Dy, Er, and Lu showed opposite behavior. These behaviors would be caused by complex formation of each lanthanide element with carbonate.
