狭隘部が多い再処理施設の現場において、柔軟に取り扱いが可能（小型・軽量）で、特にポンプや弁の厚肉部における割れなどの内在欠陥を検出するため、透過力の高い高エネルギーガンマ線が検出可能なTlBr検出器を用い、放射線透過試験装置への応用を目指し基礎特性評価を行なった。
