In this paper, we clearify the required performance of whole system of the nuclear power plant. Then, we identify and quantify the cliff edges related to them, and develop methods to avoid them. Define the physical cliff edge and knowledge-originated cliff edge, and apply the concept of defense in depth to the knowledge-originated cliff edge.
