Microstructures of the core internal components are expected to be affected during the exposure to elevated temperatures by the severe accident. The microstructure and hardness seem to be applicable to estimate the temperature history of the components during the accident. Microstructure and hardness of 316ss after ion-irradiation + annealing has been examined.
