The inside of a glass melter is filled with slurry whose dispersion midium is platinum group metal particles, and it is reported that the slurry behave as shear thinning fluid. But its mechanisms are not investigated yet. In this study, simulating glass slurry with aggregation of platunum group metal particles using DEM-DNS, we evaluated the apparent viscosity of the slurry. Through the numerical simulation, it is implied that the shear thinning is caused by aggregation of platinum group metal particles.
