The multiplicities of scission neutrons are calculated for series of U, Pu, Cm and Cf isotopes assuming a sudden transition at scission. An almost linear increase with the mass of the fissioning nucleus is found for all isotopes studied here. It reproduces the experimental trend in Cf and Cm, to a less extend in U but not in Pu.
