Increase of absolute value of Doppler coefficient and decrease of coolant void reactivity are key issues in core design of uranium-free metallic fuelled fast reactor core loaded with TRU (Pu and minor actinides) . A fast reactor core loaded with neutron moderator is proposed to solve the issues. Heterogeneity effect of fuel and neutron moderator on k-effective and reactivity coefficients in the fast reactor core was studied with the deterministic method and the Monte Carlo method.
