Effect of ammonia on the efficiency of tritium oxidation over catalyst has been investigated taking possible off normal events into consideration. It is certain that ammonia has a negative impact on oxidation of hydrogen over platinum catalyst. The result was unexpected in regard to poisoning from a very low ammonia concentration. When the platinum catalyst was completely poisoned with ammonia, the overall reaction rate constant decreased to two orders of magnitude smaller. Poisoning effect of ammonia depends strongly on concentration of hydrogen to be processed in the detritiation system. With a decrease in temperature of catalyst, ammonia poisons the catalyst much more.
